Job summary

AGI - Ag Growth International is seeking a Shipper/Receiver to coordinate receiving, storage, and distribution of materials to support production and delivery timelines. You will document transactions in ERP, prepare outbound shipments, and maintain a safe, organized warehouse while collaborating with Production, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure material availability and smooth logistics.

This role requires forklift certification or willingness to obtain it and 1–3 years in shipping/receiving

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (MS Excel, Word, email).
  • Certified to operate forklifts or willing to obtain certification.
  • 1-3 years of experience in shipping, receiving or material handling in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, purchase orders, and part numbers.
  • Ability to multi-task and execute a wide range of details and tasks quickly and effectively.
  • Good judgement and problem-solving ability along with strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and basic lean principles.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming shipments, verify against purchase orders and packing slips, and inspect for damage or quality issues.
  • Document receiving transactions in ERP/inventory system.
  • Prepare outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with shipping instructions and customer specs.
  • Generate packing lists, bills of lading, and labels.
  • Stage materials for production per schedules and job orders.
  • Maintain a clean, safe warehouse; follow safety protocols and training.
  • Perform routine inventory counts and support cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Communicate with Production, Quality, and Purchasing to ensure material availability and resolve issues.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in material flow and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Ensure month-end information is processed in a timely manner.
  • Handle freight claims as required.
  • Generate NCRs for nonconforming material and update NCR tracking.

Job description

The Shipper Receiver is responsible for coordinating the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and products to support production and customer delivery timelines. This position ensures accurate documentation, inventory control, and adherence to safety and quality standards. The role requires effective communication with production, procurement, and logistics teams to maintain a smooth flow of materials throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive incoming shipments, verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips, and inspect for damage or quality issues.
  • Accurately document receiving transactions in the ERP or inventory management system.
  • Prepare and package outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with shipping instructions, customer specifications, and carrier requirements.
  • Generate shipping documentation such as packing lists, bills of lading, and labels.
  • Stage materials for production in accordance with production schedules and job orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment; follow all safety protocols and participate in regular safety training.
  • Perform routine inventory counts, reconcile discrepancies, and support cycle count and physical inventory processes.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments, including Production, Quality, and Purchasing, to ensure material availability and resolve any shipping/receiving issues.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in material flow, inventory accuracy, and shipping/receiving processes.
  • Ensures that all information required for month-end is processed in a timely manner.
  • Handles freight claims as required.
  • Generates NCR's for nonconforming material and updates NCR tracking system when receiver activity assignments are complete.
  • Schedules local pickups and deliveries with local driver.
  • Fills out and submits purchase requisitions for department supplies.
  • Orders lumber and other shipping supplies, as per established purchasing procedure.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Customers and Business Interfaces
  • Operations & Supply Chain – Ensuring smooth production and logistics.
  • Customer Service & Support – Addressing customer inquiries and issues.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training is a plus. Post secondary education is an asset.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, email).
  • Certified to operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks, or willing to obtain certification.
  • 1-3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or material handling within a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, purchase orders, and part numbers.
  • Ability to multi-task and execute a wide range of details and tasks quickly and effectively.

  • You may be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, high visibility vests, etc.).
