Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Shift Operator 4th Class at Digby General Hospital in the Western Zone. This casual relief role (3%) supports the safe operation of heating, air conditioning, power and water generation units, and general maintenance under the supervision of the Chief Engineer & Facility Manager.

Candidates must hold a Shift Operator - 4th Class certification, be willing to travel to other sites with a reliable vehicle, and have knowledge of building code standards

Qualifications

• Certification as a Shift Operator - 4th Class required.
• Knowledge of building code standards and OH&S.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Responsibilities

• Contributes to safe and effective operation of facilities by maintaining heating, air conditioning, power and water generation units, and related systems.
• Performs day-to-day maintenance and project-related activities in compliance with legislation and policies.
• Acts with sound professional judgement under the guidance of the Chief Engineer & Facility Manager.

About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Engineer & Facility Manager, or designate, the Shift Operator 4th Class contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facilities by providing a full range of services relating to the day-to-day maintenance and project-related activities for the facilities respecting the heating, air conditioning, power and water generation units, general maintenance. The Shift Operator 4th Class ensures all functions are completed in accordance with legislation, established standards, policies and exhibits sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the Mission, Vision and Strategic Directions and incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of the organization.

About You
