Job summary

Cavendish Farms is seeking a Shift Manager to lead production teams on PEI, ensuring high-quality outputs and adherence to safety and quality standards. You will coordinate unionized staff, oversee training, and drive continuous improvement across the line.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on efficiency, yields, and collaboration with management to meet targets.

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary Education is required.
  • 1 year or more of production experience in a food processing industry.
  • 1 year or more of related supervisory experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Experience in a potato manufacturing industry is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize equipment, supplies, and personnel to maximize productivity.
  • Meet production output targets including yields and volume.
  • Identify productivity improvements.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to employees to ensure that standard operating procedures are understood and followed.
  • Document and maintain accurate records with respect to employee performance, product quality, daily reconciliation, health and safety, and attendance.
  • Develop, lead, and coach employees through effective training and recognition.
  • Foster and maintain a positive labor relations environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, and employee concerns are managed in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
  • Ensure compliance to Government regulations and Company specifications for HACCP, Sanitation, and Safety.
  • Health and Safety responsibilities.
  • Food Safety responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Shift Manager is responsible for inspiring and motivating employees to consistently produce and package high-quality products in a timely, cost-effective manner. Ensure all outputs meet or exceed customer expectations for quality, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and operational efficiency, reports directly to Senior Shift Manager on shift as well as the Production Manager and will directly supervise unionized employees.
