PLEASE NOTE: This is a permanent, full time position but the successful candidate will be hired on a contract basis.

BASIC FUNCTION

The Shift Lead at our Onion Lake Thermal SAGD commercial facility will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the entire facility. The operation consists of water treating, high pressure steam generation, oil treating, de‑oiling and production PAD’s. Targeting facility KPI’s, supporting maintenance and development of their team.

PRINCIPAL ROLES & REPONSIBILITIES
  • Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of IPC's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Must ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility.
  • Ensures the safety of the work environment for all employees.
  • Follow (SOP) standard operating procedures, including reviews and improvements to existing (SOP’s). Develop (SOP’s) if required and participate in scheduled audits.
  • Is actively and responsibly involved in the Facility Competency Training program.
  • Has a full and comprehensive understanding of all the process and safety systems to control the facilities in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping duties, testing, data collection and shift turnover notes.
  • Fulfil the TSASK requirement for second class Shift Engineer and lead a team of operations staff.
  • The Shift Leader will steward to the day‑to‑day operations of the control room, water treatment facilities, steam generation facilities, Oil treating facilities and the Production/Injection Pads.
  • Responsible for providing mentoring to junior staff members in every area of the facility.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all area‑specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production KPI’s.
  • Steward to condition monitoring of all sampling and testing per area.
  • Support all maintenance activities.
  • Provide assistance, coaching, on‑the‑job training, and assessments as require.
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate
  • Valid class 5 license with a clean driver's abstract
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in SAGD operations
  • Experience in the operation of steam generating equipment and all associated processes and systems.
  • Experience with Control room and Delta‑V would be an asset.
  • Experience in safe work permitting and equipment isolation in preparation for maintenance.
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills ability to work in a team environment.
  • Self‑motivated, work with minimal supervision and willingness to accept increased responsibility.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The location of the facility to the Lloydminster area allows for the role to be camp based or local, working a 10x10 rotating schedule, 12‑hours per shift (including weekends and holidays). The facility is located approximately 60km North of Lloydminster, AB/SK and 280km NE of Edmonton, AB.
