Job summary

Trotter & Morton Building Technologies in Red Deer, AB is seeking a Sheet Metal Project Coordinator to join our team. You will coordinate pre-development through close-out, manage budgets with the Project Manager, and ensure permits, schedules, and change orders are properly handled.

The role requires strong Microsoft Office skills, experience in mechanical projects, and a background in engineering or sheet metal trade.

Qualifications

• Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, etc.)
• Strong familiarity with projects within the mechanical scope
• Completion of an Engineering Degree, CET, or Sheet metal Journeyperson ticket
• Minimum of 2-4 years of experience required, within construction industry

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the pre-development, pre-construction, construction, and close-out phases of a project
• Review, finalize, and distribute project budget with assistance from the Project Manager
• Ensure permits and licenses are obtained and posted
• Setup, monitor, and update the project schedule with the project team
• Maintain change order logs and processing of RFQ\'s from vendors/subcontractors
• Forecast financial performance and identify process improvements
• Ensure organized and timely project close-out and post-construction reviews
• Build long-term relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform tasks to coordinate the pre-development, pre-construction, construction, and close out phases of a project
• Review, finalize, and distribute project budget with assistance from the Project Manager
• Ensure all required permits and licenses are obtained and posted
• Initiate set-up, monitoring, and update of project schedule with project team
• Ensure all required submittal review, processing and approvals, and submittal logs are set-up and maintained
• Develop, submit, and obtain approval of billing schedule of values
• Price and process all change conditions and change work orders
• Maintain all required change order logs
• Perform continual cost control and management and forecasting for overall financial performance of assigned projects
• Ensure all projects are closed out in an organized and timely manner
• Conduct post-contraction closeout meetings for assigned projects
• Build long term relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
• Assist Superintendent/Foreman with preparation of RFI’s
• Liaise with suppliers and collect quotes on materials
• Review, prepare, and submit Request for Quotation (RFQ)’s from vendors and subcontractors
• Follow up on tender closings with clients
• Track actual costs against the estimate and identify possible improvements to processes
• Price change orders
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager
