Job summary

Trotter & Morton Building Technologies in Red Deer, AB, is seeking a Sheet Metal Project Coordinator to join our mechanical division. You will coordinate tasks across pre-development through close-out, manage budgets, ensure permits, and drive project schedules alongside the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate pre-development, pre-construction, construction and close-out phases of projects.
  • Review, finalize and distribute project budgets with PM support.
  • Ensure permits and licenses are obtained and posted.
  • Set up, monitor and update project schedules with the project team.
  • Maintain submittal review, processing and logs; manage change orders.
  • Forecast costs and manage overall financial performance of assigned projects.
  • Close out projects in an organized, timely manner and conduct post-construction reviews.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Perform tasks to coordinate the pre-development, pre-construction, construction, and close out phases of a project
  • Review, finalize, and distribute project budget with assistance from the Project Manager
  • Ensure all required permits and licenses are obtained and posted
  • Initiate set-up, monitoring, and update of project schedule with project team
  • Ensure all required submittal review, processing and approvals, and submittal logs are set-up and maintained
  • Develop, submit, and obtain approval of billing schedule of values
  • Price and process all change conditions and change work orders
  • Maintain all required change order logs
  • Perform continual cost control and management and forecasting for overall financial performance of assigned projects
  • Ensure all projects are closed out in an organized and timely manner
  • Conduct post-contraction closeout meetings for assigned projects
  • Build long term relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Assist Superintendent/Foreman with preparation of RFI’s
  • Liaise with suppliers and collect quotes on materials
  • Review, prepare, and submit Request for Quotation (RFQ)’s from vendors and subcontractors
  • Follow up on tender closings with clients
  • Track actual costs against the estimate and identify possible improvements to processes
  • Price change orders
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager

Required Experience
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, etc.)
  • Strong familiarity with projects within the mechanical scope
  • Completion of an Engineering Degree, CET, or Sheet metal Journeyperson ticket
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience required, within construction industry
