Job summary

Black & McDonald Limited is seeking a Sheet Metal Estimator to estimate mechanical sheet metal projects under direction of leadership. Located in Scarborough, the role reports to the Division Manager and involves take-offs, cost estimation for labour and materials, and maintaining supplier knowledge.

The candidate should have a Degree or Diploma in Estimating, HVAC Systems, a Skilled Trade Certificate, and 5+ years of estimating experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform take-offs from construction drawings.
• Establish costs of labour and materials for mechanical projects.
• Maintain a strong knowledge of and list of suppliers.
• Ensure costs of goods and materials are in line with industry standards.
• Identify best costs and rates
• Evaluate and review proposal specifications to identify scope of work.
• Ensure accuracy of estimates.

Sheet Metal Estimator Responsibilities

The Sheet Metal Estimator is located in Scarborough and typically reports directly to the Division Manager. Their primary focus is estimation of mechanical sheet metal projects under the direction of leadership. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform take-offs from construction drawings
• Establish costs of labour and materials for mechanical projects
• Maintain a strong knowledge of and list of suppliers
• Ensure costs of goods and materials are in line with industry standards
• Identify best costs and rates
• Evaluate and review proposal specifications to identify scope of work
• Ensure accuracy of estimates

WHAT YOU CAN OFFER

Advanced knowledge and understanding of:

Proficient user of:

• MS Office
• Autobid SM
• Procore
• CamDuct or Est/MEP would be an asset

The expected salary range for this role is between $80,000 - $95,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
