Job summary

IQ Resource Group, Inc. in Appleton, WI is seeking Sewing Machine Operators to support production across departments. You will safely operate industrial sewing machines, follow prints, and help meet delivery deadlines with quality as a priority.

The role requires attention to detail, basic math, ability to lift up to 70 lbs, and flexibility to work 40 hours per week, including overtime as needed. Wage ranges from $17 to $20 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions.
• Ability to read a tape measure to 1/8 inch.
• Ability to sit or stand for periods of time during each shift.
• Able to lift 40 lbs regularly and up to 70 lbs with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate industrial sewing machines and prepare machines by changing needles and thread and servicing attachments.
• Operate machinery including automatic feed cutter, handheld hot knife, and various cutters to process orders.
• Use computer program for automated machines that mark and cut material orders.
• Move materials using hand pallet jacks, hydraulic lift, carts and dollies; forklift experience helpful but not required.
• Hand cut materials and draw/create patterns based on prints or patterns.
• Follow prints and written instructions with attention to detail.
• Sew products together with different materials and meet production deadlines with quality.
• Prepare and package completed orders for shipments or deliveries.
• Monitor material inventory and place order requests to maintain workflow.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area with safety as priority.

Job description

Do you have a passion for sewing and have strong attention to detail? If so, IQ Resource Group wants to hear from you! We are actively hiring Sewing Machine Operators in the Appleton, WI area.

Wage: $17-$20 an hour (Depends on experience)

Hours: 6:45am to 5:15pm Monday-Thursday, 6:45am-5pm Friday(Set your own schedule that meets the required 40 hours/week)

Location: Appleton, WI

Position Overview:

This position will float between all departments as needed for optimal production efficiency. We are looking for an organized team player with excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate industrial sewing machines and prepare machines by changing needles and thread, oiling and changing bobbin, and securing attachments. This includes automatic Box & X sewing machines and standard industrial sewing machines.
• Safely operate machinery including automatic feed cutter, handheld hot knife, slide track rotary cutter, pneumatic grommet machines, pressurized die press, grinder to sharpen scissors, chop saw, band saw.
• Operate computer program for automated machines that can mark and cut material orders.
• Safely operate various types of equipment to move material and orders including hand pallet jacks, hydraulic lift, carts and dolly. Forklift experience helpful, but not required.
• Operate hand tools including scissors, drill, hand press, hand clamps.
• Hand cut a variety of materials in various departments based on prints or patterns.
• Draw or create patterns.
• Follow prints and written instructions with excellent attention to detail.
• Sewing products together with a wide range of materials.
• Meet delivery deadlines by working with the team to ensure products are made correctly, with good quality and meet production goals set by manager.
• Prepare and package completed orders for shipments or deliveries.
• Monitor material inventory and place order requests as needed to ensure an efficient production workflow.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area with safety being a priority.

Requirements:

• Excellent attention to detail and quality control.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fraction to decimal conversion with provided conversion chart. Basic knowledge of geometry and geometric calculations preferred.
• Read a tape measure in feet and inches to 1/8”.
• Ability to sit or stand for periods of time during each shift.
• Ability to reach 3 feet in front of you over tables of varying heights (waist heights) without climbing onto the table.
• Ability to properly lift, carry, maneuver objects weighing 40lbs unassisted on a regular basis and up to 70lbs (with assistance) occasionally.
