The University of Toronto’s Daniels Faculty seeks a sessional lecturer to lead a design studio in Architecture. The appointee will prepare and deliver course content, provide student feedback, and guide studio work.

Course Description

This studio will examine the reciprocal influences of landscape and urbanism, with respect to form and process, through a focus on landscapes as urban systems at multiple scales.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture (or related design discipline) and relevant professional experience in design.

Preferred Qualifications

We are seeking applicants with a professional degree in landscape architecture (Master’s or Bachelor’s) and a record of teaching landscape design at the undergraduate or graduate level. Demonstrated experience in landscape practice is an asset. Demonstrated design excellence is desired and will be evaluated through consideration of professional experience, design awards (if applicable), and a 1-2 page portfolio.

Duties

The chosen candidate(s) will lead a design studio section under the direction of a course coordinator. Normal duties may include thepreparation and delivery of course content in a design studio setting; the development and administration of assignments; providing students with regular feedback on their work in the studio setting; the marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours; and the supervision of the day-to-day work of any Teaching Assistants assigned to the course. There is no expectation of or requirement for research or administrative service.
