Job summary

CDSB in Canada is seeking a Maintenance Technician under the Housing Services program to perform janitorial and groundskeeping duties across assigned rental projects. You will execute preventive maintenance, monitor life safety systems, and report repairs to keep buildings safe and functioning.

This role requires the ability to work with limited supervision, maintain inventories, and respond quickly to callouts.

SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Housing Services, Program Manager (Operations) to provide maintenance services to assigned rental projects within CDSB in accordance with related legislation, CDSB policies and procedures and CDSB Vision & Values.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION

• Providing janitorial and groundskeeping services
• Performing preventive maintenance requirements for building components, equipment, life safety systems
• Maintaining inventory of moveable assets
• Maintaining fire log, business continuity plan
• Repairing / replacing building components
• Move out repairs / redecorating
• Reporting needed repairs, problems, disturbances
• On call duties
• Quick response to call outs as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work with limited supervision, organize and prioritize routine and peak demand work and preventive maintenance routine
• Recommend repairs/replacement
• Demonstrate skill in the use/repair of tools and equipment to perform minor repairs and daily cleaning of building sites
• Knowledge of WHMIS, maintenance & renovations processes

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Experience in custodial / maintenance environment, preferably in a residential environment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Access to a reliable vehicle
• Possession of valid driver’s license
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
