Job summary

Brandt Peterbilt in North Bay is seeking a Service Writer to support the service manager by maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records for the Service Department.

You will handle customer inquiries, open work orders, maintain the service library and filing, update customer profiles, manage supplies, and assist with warranty processing as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with customer inquiries and service departments preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems basics.
• Familiarity with office procedures and filing.

Responsibilities

• Handle internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department.
• Open work orders as directed by the Service Manager and maintain until closed and invoiced.
• Maintain the service library with current information (bulletins, manuals, etc.).
• Maintain Service Department filing and records.
• Update customer profiles using equipment hours or other info from work orders.
• Prepare replacement orders and assist with warranty claims processing.

We are currently seeking a Service Writer for our North Bay Brandt Peterbilt location. This position is responsible for assisting the service manager in maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the Service Department's operation.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department
• Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman and maintains control until they are closed and invoiced
• Maintains the service library with current information (for example, files bulletins, manuals, multi-media, etc.) under the direct supervision of the Service Manager
• Maintains Service Department filing and records
• Updates customer profiles using equipment, hours, or other information from the customer work orders
• Maintains accessories and supplies and prepares replacement orders
• May prepare Service Technician efficiency reports
• May process warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission and follow-up

• Experience with and ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
• High School Diploma or equivalent experience
• Outstanding knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems
• Knowledge of office procedures
• General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred
• Basic knowledge of accounting practices
