Job summary

Equipment World is hiring a Service Writer in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. This role provides a clear path to a Service Manager succession and involves coordinating service schedules, orders, and customer needs in a busy shop environment.

You’ll work closely with technicians and the Parts, Service, and Rental teams to keep the department running smoothly and to grow into a leadership role over time.

Qualifications

• Service writing experience is required.
• Strong communication with customers and coworkers.
• Comfortable juggling schedules, work orders and priorities.
• Experience with service departments or mechanical equipment is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanic schedules and job assignments.
• Keep work orders and WIP up to date.
• Assist customers with questions and service needs.
• Coordinate preventative maintenance and safety certificates.
• Collaborate with Parts, Service and Rental teams.
• Ensure technicians have parts and information they need.
• Track service records, inspections and documentation.
• Support the Service Manager with daily operations and procedures.

What You’ll Be Doing

As part of our Service Administration TEAM, you’ll help keep the department running smoothly by:

• Coordinating mechanic schedules and job assignments
• Keeping work orders, back orders and WIP up to date
• Helping customers with questions and service needs
• Coordinating preventative maintenance and annual safety certificates
• Working closely with our Parts, Service and Rental teams
• Making sure technicians have the parts and information they need
• Tracking service records, inspections, logs and documentation
• Supporting the Service Manager with department procedures, safety and day-to-day operations

Who We’re Looking For

You’re a strong communicator, highly organized and comfortable working with computers and web-based programs.

Service writing experience is required, and experience in a service department or with mechanical equipment is a big plus.

Experience with SAGE? Even better — but not required.
