Job summary

Stage Windows & Doors is seeking an experienced Service Technician to join our field service team in Ontario. You will respond to customer service requests, perform re-measures, and install windows and doors while ensuring safety and high quality.

You will collaborate with Service Managers, Production, and Purchasing to resolve issues and deliver excellent customer experiences. The role requires reading drawings, strong problem‑solving, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in residential or commercial window and door installation or related framing/trim work.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and architectural details.
  • Professional verbal and written English communication.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and travel across Ontario.
  • Valid Ontario G Class Driver's licence with clean record.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer locations, diagnose issues, and perform accurate re-measures.
  • Perform window and door installations for smaller service jobs following safety standards.
  • Document service findings clearly and coordinate with parts and scheduling.
  • Represent Stage Windows & Doors professionally at customer interactions.
  • Provide production support during lighter service periods.
  • Complete detailed service reports and manage parts orders.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Service Technician – Windows & Doors to join our growing Service team.

This role is responsible for responding to customer service requests, performing accurate re‑measures, completing window and door installations, troubleshooting product concerns, and providing production support during lighter service periods. As one of the primary faces of our company, the successful candidate will deliver exceptional customer service while working closely with Service Managers, Service Coordinators, Production, Purchasing, and the Order Desk to ensure every job is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

This is a hands‑on, field‑based position requiring excellent technical knowledge, strong problem‑solving abilities, and outstanding customer interaction skills. We are looking for someone who communicates professionally, remains calm under pressure, and enjoys working directly with homeowners, builders and customers to create a positive service experience.

The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, self‑motivated, punctual and flexible, with experience in window and door installation, glass and production environments.

Primary Responsibilities
Service & Re‑measures
  • Respond to customer locations to investigate assigned service tickets, perform diagnostics and complete accurate re‑measures of windows and doors.
  • Document findings clearly and accurately.
Customer Service & Representation
  • Represent Stage Windows & Doors professionally at every customer interaction.
  • Build positive relationships with homeowners, builders and clients through respectful, solution‑focused communication.
  • Explain service findings, timelines, and recommended solutions in a clear and professional manner.
  • Handle challenging customer situations with professionalism and a customer‑first approach.
Installations
  • Perform window and door installations for smaller service jobs while following company quality and safety standards.
  • Identify any additional materials or equipment required to complete work efficiently.
Reporting & Ordering
  • Complete detailed service reports.
  • Coordinate with the Order Desk or Purchasing team regarding required parts, stock and materials.
Collaboration
  • Work closely with Service Managers and Service Coordinators regarding schedules and assignments.
  • Collaborate with Production, Purchasing and the Order Desk to resolve technical questions and service‑related concerns.
Deliveries & Pickups
  • Complete deliveries and pickups of materials and tools as required.
  • Ensure safe handling and proper documentation.
Production Support

During lighter service schedules:

  • Assist Production with various tasks to support operations.
  • Continue developing technical skills through cross‑training.
  • Prepare materials and load vehicles for upcoming service routes.
  • Plan routes efficiently to maximize productivity.
Inventory & Tools
  • Maintain service vehicle inventory, tool checklists and required service materials.
Vehicle & Road Safety
  • Maintain company vehicles in good condition.
  • Complete routine inspections.
  • Follow all road safety regulations.
Travel
  • Travel throughout Ontario to customer locations, including longer‑distance routes when required.
Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards, applicable building codes and safety regulations.
  • Report concerns or product issues promptly.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve service efficiency, customer satisfaction and internal processes.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in residential or commercial window and door installation; or
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in framing, trim (casing) work, construction renovations or a related field.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Professional verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and architectural details.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
  • Valid Ontario G Class Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
  • Familiarity with travel throughout Central Ontario.
  • Successful completion of criminal background, driver's abstract and reference checks.

Working Conditions
  • This position is primarily field‑based and requires regular travel to customer locations throughout Ontario.
  • Flexibility is required, as start and finish times may vary based on customer schedules and service requirements.
  • Overtime may be required during peak periods or to complete customer service commitments.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required for longer‑distance service routes, with accommodations arranged by the Company where applicable.
  • During periods of lighter service activity, technicians will work within the production department to support operations, maintain product knowledge and participate in cross‑training activities.
  • The role involves frequent lifting, carrying, bending, climbing and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Lift, carry, and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs. while following safe lifting techniques and company health and safety procedures.
  • Operate a Company vehicle safely while maintaining a valid Ontario G Class Driver's Licence.
Training & Development
  • Comprehensive onboarding and hands‑on training will be provided.
  • Ongoing training in production processes, new products, installation techniques, safety procedures and service best practices.
  • Cross‑training opportunities within Production and Service to expand technical knowledge and support career development.

Performance Incentive
