Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies in Laval, QC is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to diagnose, service, and repair heavy equipment at our Construction & Forestry location. You will work on customer or dealer-owned machines, performing diagnostics and preventive maintenance with precision.

The role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge, plus the ability to document actions and parts used. Apprenticeship or journeyperson status is preferred; safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Apprentice or Journeyperson in heavy equipment preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Job description

Brandt is currently seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician for our Laval Construction & Forestry location.

This position is responsible for performing basic/complex diagnostics, service maintenance and repair work on customer and/or dealer-owned equipment on an efficient basis.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair heavy duty equipment
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
  • Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
  • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
  • Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. "John Deere Service Advisor") to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
  • Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required

  • Proven computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A commitment to high quality customer service with a strong people orientation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 poundsperience
  • Demonstrated diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.
  • Previous mechanical experience in a heavy equipment environment is preferred
  • Enrolled as an Apprentice or certified Journeyperson in the heavy Duty Equipment technician trade or equivalent designated trade preferred
  • Must be committed to customer service and service excellence
