Job summary

Brandt is seeking a Resident Heavy Equipment Technician for our Construction & Forestry operations in Elk Valley, reporting to the Cranbrook branch. This full-time role focuses on repair and maintenance of construction, forestry, and mining equipment in a shop setting, with a 7 days on / 7 days off shift schedule.

You will diagnose, repair, and service equipment using John Deere Service Advisor and other tools, document actions on work orders, and collaborate with parts personnel to keep

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Truck/Transport, Automotive) considered an asset.
  • 3 years' relevant experience in heavy equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Computer and technical aptitude for diagnostics and calibration work.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and diagnose equipment condition and perform repairs/maintenance in a shop setting.
  • Order parts and document actions on work orders.
  • Use instruments, hand and power tools, and computer systems during service tasks.
  • Assess service task hazards and ensure safety standards are met.
  • Document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis in systems like John Deere Service Advisor.
  • Road test equipment and verify attachment operation as required.

Description

Brandt is currently seeking a Resident Heavy Equipment Technician for our Construction & Forestry based in Elk Valley, reporting to the our Cranbrook branch. This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of construction and forestry and mining based equipment and attachments in a shop environment. Note: The shift schedule for this position is 7 days on, 7 days off

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Efficiently and effectively evaluate the working condition of, diagnose, assemble/disassemble, order parts for, and repair equipment
  • Use secondary materials and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Use related instruments, hand and power tools, secondary equipment, and computer systems
  • Accurately and completely document on work orders all machine information, actions taken, and time taken
  • Continually assess service task hazards and ensure work is performed safely, and to accepted standards
  • Use computer applications and information systems (i.e. John Deere Service Advisor) to document maintenance, inspection, and diagnosis
  • Use parts catalogues to locate parts, and order parts from parts personnel
  • Road test equipment and check attachment operation as required
What We Look For
  • Ability to operate Forklift. Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Truck/Transport, Automotive) considered as asset. 3 years' relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Possess computer and technical aptitude and knowledge for diagnostics and calibration work.
  • Possess diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical equipment repair needs.
  • Possess strong time management skills to perform under pressure.
  • Possess strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Possess a commitment to high quality customer service.
