Job summary

Voith Group in Canada is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician (Millwright) to support Voith Hydrodynamic and Geared products across Canada with travel. You will perform inspections, repairs, commissioning, and on-site engineering support for our industrial equipment.

The role requires strong mechanical skills, PLC knowledge, and a customer-focused approach. Travel will be required nationally and occasional international assignments may occur, with robust safety training provided.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary mechanical education is an asset.
• Red Seal certification or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years field service experience with mechanical rotating equipment.
• Experience with PLC controls and vibration analysis is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, repairs, overhauls, alignments and commissioning at customer sites and Voith facilities.
• Troubleshoot, disassemble/reassemble and maintain Voith hydrodynamic and geared products.
• Provide preventative maintenance, emergency repairs and technical support.
• Prepare detailed service reports, maintenance analyses and failure investigations.
• Coordinate service schedules and support from additional field service representatives as needed.
• Assist inside/outside sales with technical expertise and ensure timely invoicing.

What You'll Do

As a Service technician, you will manage all phases of the field service cycle, including:

• Performing inspections, repairs, overhauls, alignments, and commissioning activities at customer sites and Voith facilities
• Troubleshooting, disassembling, reassembling, and maintaining Voith Hydrodynamic and Geared Industrial products
• Providing preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and technical support services
• Preparing detailed service reports, maintenance analyses, and failure investigations
• Delivering exceptional customer support in person, by phone, and via email
• Determining scope of work, parts requirements, and tooling needs
• Assisting the quotation process by providing estimates for labor duration and expenses
• Coordinating service schedules and arranging support from additional field service representatives as required
• Supporting the inside and outside sales teams with technical expertise
• Completing expense reports, timesheets, and documentation to facilitate timely customer invoicing
• Ensuring strict compliance with all Voith safety standards, procedures, and operational directives
• Participating in special projects and assignments as required

What We're Looking For

Education

• Post-secondary education in a mechanical field is considered an asset
• Red Seal certification or equivalent trade qualification is required

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of field service experience in a similar industry involving mechanical rotating equipment
• Experience with PLC controls is considered an asset
• Vibration analysis experience is considered an asset

Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly through service reports and customer interactions
• Strong customer service orientation and relationship-building skills
• Confident and effective decision-making abilities
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and schematics
• Fully fluent in English; French language skills are considered an asset
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg)

Travel and Working Conditions

• Availability to work overtime when required
• Travel throughout Canada and occasional international travel
• Ability to complete customer-specific safety training and site access requirements
