Job summary

Jim Pattison Lexus Northshore is seeking an experienced Red Seal Automotive Technician to join our Service Department. You will work on a wide range of Lexus vehicles using advanced diagnostic systems and manufacturer procedures, joining a skilled team dedicated to safety and exceptional service.

The role requires Red Seal certification or in-progress status, BC driver’s license with clean abstract, and strong diagnostic skills to deliver top-quality workmanship in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Certification or in process of challenging it.
• Automotive technician experience required.
• Valid BC Driver’s license with satisfactory abstract.
• Able to operate both manual and automatic transmissions.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with attention to detail.
• Detail oriented, able to multi-task and prioritize.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically capable to lift up to 60 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain Lexus vehicles to manufacturer standards.
• Perform thorough vehicle inspections with documentation.
• Identify issues, recommend solutions, and inform Service team.
• Coordinate with Service Advisors on repair timelines and additional work.
• Road test and perform pre-delivery inspections on inventory.
• Coordinate with Parts Department for parts and warranty labeling.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized shop and assist teammates.

Job description

Jim Pattison Lexus Northshore is looking for an experienced and motivated Red Seal Certified Automotive Technician to join our growing Service Department.

As a Lexus Technician, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of Lexus vehicles while using advanced technology, diagnostic systems, and manufacturer-specific repair procedures. You’ll be part of a skilled and supportive team that takes pride in quality workmanship, keeping vehicles safe and reliable, and delivering the exceptional level of service our customers expect from the Lexus brand.

Pay Range: $38.00 to $44.00 hourly flat rate depending on certification and level of experience.

A Day in the Life

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles in accordance with manufacturer and dealership standards
• Perform thorough vehicle inspections with accurate documentation and measurements
• Identify mechanical and electrical issues, recommend solutions, and communicate findings clearly to Service team
• Partner with Service Advisors to provide updates on repair timelines or recommend additional safety work
• Conduct road tests and pre-delivery inspections on new inventory to ensure every vehicle leaving the shop is in top condition
• Coordinate with the Parts Department to source what you need and manage warranty labeling
• Assist fellow technicians when needed to maintain overall shop productivity
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Ensure a high degree of confidentiality with company and customer information
• Participate in maintaining a supportive and engaging working environment

What We’re Looking For

• Automotive Service Technician Red Seal Certification or currently in the process of challenging it
• Previous experience as an automotive technician is required
• A valid BC Driver’s license is required, including a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required
• Able to operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, with a keen attention to detail
• Detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities
• Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable
• Ability to work the physical requirements of a service technician role
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 60 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • High level of mobility, dexterity, endurance, and sensory awareness
• Ability to work in an automotive shop environment
  • Indoor automotive shop with multiple service bays
  • Exposure to noise (engines, air tools), fumes (exhaust, solvents), and dust
  • Work performed around moving vehicles, hoists, and heavy equipment
  • Temperature can vary (shops may be cooler in winter, warmer in summer despite heating/ventilation)
