Job summary

Brandt Group of Companies is seeking a Lead Hand at our Nisku Truck and Trailer location to coordinate and direct the workload of the Service department for maximum efficiency and productivity, while ensuring quality repair work. You will advise the Shop Foreman and Service Manager on technician skills and training needs, and may assume the Shop Foreman role in their absence.

• 5+ years’ experience as a heavy duty service technician.
• Journeyman certificate required.
• CVIP licence would be an asset.
• 4 /10 shift.
• Ability to work multiple shift patterns.
• Ability to lead others.
• Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills, and be able to present to groups.
• Ability to use standard desktop application.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department staff.
• Assist in appraisal of repair orders and participate in repairs.
• Direct and assist technicians and apprentices in diagnosing machine problems.
• Inspect and repair special tools and recommend new tooling as needed.
• Advise Shop Foreman or Service Manager of customer complaints.
• Coordinate and conduct quarterly safety meetings.
• May fill Shop Foreman’s role in their absence.
• May arrange for and participate in reconditioning of used equipment and setup of new equipment.
• May approve release of equipment for delivery to customer.
• Provide performance feedback for service technicians and staff.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Assists with the assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their skill and knowledge
