Qualifications

  • Trade qualification (Heavy Equipment, Agriculture, Truck/Transport) required.
  • 3 years' relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Possess computer and technical aptitude for diagnostics and calibration work.
  • Diagnostic skills to understand mechanical and technical repair needs.
  • Strong time management to perform under pressure.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate within budgets and approvals established by the Service Manager.
  • Maintain high productivity, efficiency, and gross margin to support branch goals.
  • Achieve and uphold a quality work metric of 98% on first-time completion.
  • Perform basic to complex diagnostics on power equipment and identify repair needs.
  • Disassemble, assemble, and repair mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct inspections per customer, manufacturer, and government standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (fluid changes, battery tests, brake adjustments, lubrication).
  • Execute advanced mechanical repairs including engine/transmission diagnosis or replacement.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment and industry standards relevant to the branch.
  • Keep work area clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Follow OH&S standards and proper hazardous waste disposal procedures.
  • Take direction from Service Manager and Foreman; complete tasks.
  • Participate in training programs and maintenance of tools and vehicles.
  • Mentor apprentices and support their growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Brandt is currently looking for a Service Technician - Material Handling for our Calgary location. The Service Technician is responsible for independently performing basic to complex diagnostics, service maintenance and repair work on customer and/or dealer owned equipment efficiently. They are also responsible for providing quality service to customers and ensuring all issues are resolved satisfactorily and in a timely manner.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Financial Performance:
  • Operate within budgets and approvals established by the Service Manager.
  • Maintain high levels of productivity, efficiency, and gross margin to contribute positively to branch goals.
  • Achieve and uphold a quality of work metric of 98%, ensuring work is completed correctly the first time to minimize rework and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Diagnostic and Repair Services:
  • Perform basic to complex diagnostics on power equipment to accurately identify repair needs and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose, disassemble, assemble, and repair mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems to restore optimal equipment performance.
  • Conduct customer, manufacturer, and government-mandated inspections to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as fluid and filter changes, battery testing, brake system adjustments, and lubrication to prolong equipment life.
  • Execute advanced mechanical repairs, including engine and transmission diagnosis, repair, or replacement, to resolve complex issues.
  • Work Systems and Procedures:
  • Maintain current product knowledge specific to equipment and industry standards relevant to the branch location.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area to ensure efficiency and safety.
  • Follow all safety rules and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) standards.
  • Ensure compliance with proper procedures for hazardous waste disposal.
  • Work within guidelines set by managers to ensure consistent and quality service delivery.
  • Perform all service tasks assigned by the Service Manager or Service Department Foreman.
  • Participate in required training programs, including industry-specific technology training.
  • Maintain and care for departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Mentor and oversee apprentices to support their professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned.
