Job Summary

Who are we looking for as a Service Technician? Patterson Dental Ottawa is seeking a dedicated individual interested in bio-medical (dental) device and equipment repair. As a Service Technician, you will provide repair and installation services for various dental equipment and products, including networking, computers, and software within a Windows environment. You will learn and follow manufacturer guidelines related to device repair.

Essential Functions

• Independently make assigned customer calls, diagnosing problems at the module or specific component level.
• Load, deliver, install, configure, and train customers on the basic use and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide technical support after initial installation of equipment (software & hardware).
• Use, maintain, and secure test equipment and tools used for adjusting, calibrating, and repairing equipment.
• Determine parts, supplies, or tools needed to complete service requests.
• Relay any special problems to the Service Coordinator after each call.
• Ensure that response times meet commitments made to the Service Coordinator.
• Work with Sales Representatives to present Maintenance Agreements to customers.
• Follow repair and manufacturer schedules for customers on Service Agreements.
• Coordinate with other Patterson sales professionals to demonstrate and sell equipment and technology.
• Proactively discuss equipment and technology solutions based on customer needs and industry trends.
• Complete all required paperwork, including time sheets, service orders, inventory, expense reports, and related items.
• Return defective modules or parts to the local office and label items appropriately.
• Maintain and restock parts trucks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Electronics diploma required.
• Valid driver's license and in order required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Motivated team player.
• Strong customer service skills.
• 2 to 3 years of experience in repair within a dental/medical environment.
• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, heating, electricity, or electronics required.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Proficiency in oral and written French is an asset.
• Knowledge of the dental industry and SAP software is an asset.
