Job summary

Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a Food Service Representative for the Second Cup team. The role involves greeting guests, taking orders, preparing high quality beverages and baked goods, and maintaining a clean, organized service area in a fast-paced environment.

You will handle cash, answer questions about the menu, and uphold HACCP procedures while ensuring friendly, efficient service to staff and visitors throughout shifts. This is a temporary part-time position.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of customer service experience.
  • 1 year of cash handling experience.
  • Food Handlers course and WHMIS training required during probation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide courteous, friendly customer service to patrons.
  • Serve and prepare food and beverages; set up service area as needed.
  • Handle cash transactions and reconcile deposits as assigned.
  • Follow standards of food and beverage preparation, assembly and merchandising.
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards for equipment and service areas.
  • Ensure safe operation and cleanliness of all related equipment.
  • Inform patrons about menu items, specials, events, and products.

In This Role You Will
  • Provide courteous, friendly, customer service to patrons
  • Serve and prepare food and beverages for customers; set up retail food service area as needed
  • Handle cash transactions and reconcile cash deposits as assigned
  • Follow established standards of food and beverage preparation, assembly and merchandising
  • Maintain established sanitation and safety standards on all equipment and service areas
  • Ensure safe operation, maintenance and cleanliness of all other related equipment
  • Inform patrons about menu items, specials, events, and products or services
  • Maintain a clean work area while following proper food handling and sanitation procedures including HACCP
  • Demonstrate MSH’s core expectations of employee conduct; includes attending relevant continuing education sessions, following all Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures, complying with applicable Health and Safety standards and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
  • Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required
Job Requirements

Mandatory

  • Successful completion of high school diploma
  • 1 year of experience in customer service
  • 1 year of experience in cash handling
  • Successful completion of the Food Handlers course and WHIMIS required during probationary period (training will be provided by Mount Sinai Hospital)
Preferred
  • Previous experience in a food service or event setting, such as catering, bartending, or table service
Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated initiative and good judgement with the ability to multi-task

Note: This position requires the ability to meet the physical demands of the position in order to perform the essential duties of the position which requires bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of time as required.

This is a Temporary contract for up to Nine (9) months.

Must be available for all shifts up to 24 hours per week (days, evenings, nights, weekends and Stat Holidays) Shifts range from a start time of 05:00 to an end time of 22:00
