Job summary

Compass Group Canada is hiring a Barista - General Help to prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, and related items in our cafe. You will perform food prep, maintain cleanliness, and support cafe operations.

Hours are 6:30am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday with every alternate Friday off, on-site in Calgary. The role emphasizes excellent customer service and teamwork in a fast-paced retail cafe environment.

• Previous work experience as a Barista is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent service quality in the cafe.
• Educate customers on the coffee drink menu and answer questions.
• Prepare coffee drinks following recipes (espresso, latte, cappuccino).
• Sell coffee and brewing equipment, explain differences and demonstrate use.
• Maintain inventories and replenish supplies for the coffee bar.
• Replenish condiments and general supplies; keep service areas clean.
• Perform general food service prep and proper holding and serving of food.
• Keep equipment running by following operating instructions and basic maintenance.
• Ensure a safe and healthy work environment following regulations.
• Improve quality and store appearance through changes and upkeep.

How You Will Make An Impact

You will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso drinks and related food and beverage items to customers, as well as perform food preparation, cleaning, catering and retail cashier duties.

As a Barista - General Help, You Will

• Provide an excellent service quality experience in the cafe
• Educate customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu, answering questions
• Prepare coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, espresso, cafe latte, and cappuccino
• Sell coffee and coffee grinding/brewing equipment by explaining differences in coffee beans and coffee preparation machines; demonstrating how brewing equipment operates
• Maintain inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; stocking coffee brewing equipment; maintaining supplies, pastries, and cookies for coffee bar
• Replenish condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service areas.
• Perform general food service work involving the preparation, proper holding, service of food, and clean up activities
• Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations
• Improve quality results, implementing changes; maintaining and improving the appearance of the store and coffee bar

About You
