Job summary

AMIT GPS & NAVIGATION LLP is seeking a skilled technician to install and commission NAVCOM systems on customer vessels, yachts, and boats. The role involves working offshore, handling VDR-APT and GMDSS equipment, and managing retrofit projects from start to finish.

Candidate must have a Diploma in Engineering or ITI, 2–5 years of relevant experience, and be physically fit to board vessels offshore; GOC/UAE licenses are advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Engineering or ITI or equivalent required.
  • 2–5 years of offshore installation experience preferred.
  • GOC license is an added advantage.
  • UAE driving license is an added advantage.
  • Must be physically fit to board vessels offshore.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out installation and commissioning of NAVCOM equipment on vessels, yachts, and boats.
  • Handle work on VDR-APT’s, navigation equipment, GMDSS equipment, etc.
  • Manage retrofit projects, including bridge installations and large system integrations.
  • Coordinate with service teams to optimize time and service delivery.
  • Provide technical reports and documentation; perform surveys and inspections of ship radio and navigational installations.

  • Carry out installation and commissioning of NAVCOM equipment on customers’ vessels, yachts, and boats.
  • Handle work on VDR-APT’s, navigation equipment, GMDSS equipment, etc.
  • Manage retrofit projects, handling complete bridge installations and large system integrations.
  • Work closely with the service coordinators to ensure the most efficient use of time and services.
  • Provide technical support to customers and the company’s sales and service agents.
  • Perform surveys and inspections of ship radio communications and radio navigational installations, subject to possessing the appropriate qualifications, accreditations, and experience.
  • Carry out unplanned maintenance in the event of a failure or malfunction, with the objective of restoring normal operations as quickly as possible.
  • Manage spare requisitions as per project requirements.
  • Provide technical reports and documentation.
  • Conduct quality assurance and safety checks on all equipment.
  • Use hand tools and power tools.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed test and inspection records.
  • Educate customers on the operation of the installed equipment.
  • Complete work within the agreed budget and schedule.
  • Attend offshore jobs as required.

Desired Candidate Profile
  • Diploma in Engineering, ITI, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Must be physically fit to board vessels offshore.
