Job summary

Water St. Café & The 2nd Floor Gastown in Vancouver seeks energetic servers to join our front-of-house team. You will deliver warm, attentive service, guide guests through menu, and maintain knowledge of wine, cocktails, and daily specials.

Qualifications

• Valid SIR certificate required.
• Canadian work permit or permanent authorization to work in Canada.
• 2+ years of serving experience in upscale casual or fine-dining.
• Solid wine, spirits and food pairing knowledge; fine-dining background a plus.
• Excellent communication, multitasking, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Availability for afternoon and evening shifts; weekends included.

Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, attentive table service and create memorable dining experiences.
• Provide menu guidance with knowledge of ingredients, allergens, and specials.
• Maintain wine, cocktails, and beverage program knowledge; upsell where appropriate.
• Input orders into POS accurately and handle payments efficiently.
• Adhere to service standards, food safety, and sanitation protocols.
• Collaborate with kitchen and floor teams to ensure smooth pacing.
• Address guest inquiries and perform service recovery calmly and promptly.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver warm, attentive, and professional table service, creating a memorable dining experience for every guest.
• Guide guests through our menu with comprehensive knowledge of ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, and daily specials.
• Maintain a deep understanding of our wine list, craft cocktails, beverage programs, and ongoing promotions.
• Accurately input orders into the POS system and process various payment methods efficiently.
• Adhere strictly to all restaurant service standards, food safety guidelines, and sanitation protocols.
• Collaborate seamlessly with kitchen and floor teams to maintain smooth pacing and table turnover.
• Handle guest inquiries or service recovery promptly with a calm, solution-oriented demeanor.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Certification: Valid Serving It Right (SIR) certificate required.
• Work Authorization: Valid Canadian work permit or permanent legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Experience: 2+ years of serving experience in an upscale casual or fine-dining environment.
• Knowledge: Solid foundation in wine, spirits, and food pairings (fine-dining background is an asset).
• Skills: Excellent communication, strong multitasking ability under high volume, and reliable conflict-resolution skills.
• Availability: Flexible schedule with availability for afternoon and evening shifts, including weekends (minimum 3 shifts per week).
