Job summary

The Spare Room and The Alley in Powell River is hiring a friendly Server/Bartender to deliver excellent service across a busy hospitality environment including the pub, bowling alley, and events. This role offers work across different business areas and emphasizes a community-focused, collaborative workplace where staff are encouraged to learn new skills and take on responsibilities.

Greet guests, take orders, and provide beverage service while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Serving It Right certification is required.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license.
• High school diploma; some post-secondary education preferred.
• 2+ years of retail sales, food and beverage, hospitality, or similar customer service experience is an asset.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Comfortable using a POS system and basic computer programs.

Salary Or Wage: $18.25 to $19 per hour

List of Requirements

• Serving It Right certification
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
• High school diploma; some post-secondary education preferred

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, carry, and perform physical tasks throughout a shift
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and safely move or change kegs
• Comfortable working in a moderately loud, fast-paced environment, using cleaning chemicals, and occasionally climbing stairs.

List of Duties

• Greet guests and provide friendly, attentive service
• Take food and beverage orders and ensure guests have an enjoyable experience
• Provide knowledgeable beer, wine, and other beverage service
• Change kegs and help keep bar operations running smoothly
• Operate the POS system and process cash, debit, and credit transactions
• Complete accurate shift cash-outs and related records
• Clean and sanitize tables, bar surfaces, glassware, and guest areas
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming pub and bowling alley
• Answer phones and respond to customer messages
• Take and manage reservations
• Assist with special events and event scheduling
• Monitor glassware, bar supplies, and other inventory
• Advise management when supplies need to be replenished
• Attend staff meetings and contribute ideas
• Work collaboratively with other team members and support a positive workplace
