Job summary

Veranda at the Stables in Calgary, AB, seeks a friendly Server/Bartender to join a craft-focused team in a historic Currie Barracks setting. You will greet guests, present menus, take orders, mix cocktails, pour craft beers and spirits, and help guests choose food pairings.

Day-to-day tasks include processing payments, maintaining a clean bar, and supporting tastings, tours and private events. Evening, weekend and holiday availability is preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service, hospitality and interpersonal skills.
• Bartending fundamentals including cocktail preparation and accurate pouring; knowledge of craft spirits/beers is a plus.
• Proficient with POS systems, cash handling and payment processing.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting, especially during peak service periods.
• Reliable teamwork and communication with kitchen, bar and events staff.
• Knowledge of food and beverage pairings or willingness to learn.
• Food safety basics; ProServe certification is an asset.
• Previous serving or bartending experience; interest in craft beverages and culinary culture is beneficial.
• Ability to stand for long periods, carry trays and glassware; ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Role Description

The Server, and Bartender roles can be full-time, or part-time, on-site position based at Veranda at the Stables in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for greeting guests, presenting menus, taking orders, and serving food and beverages in a timely, accurate manner. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and mixing cocktails and other drinks to recipe standards, pouring and serving craft beers and spirits, and maintaining a clean, organized bar and service station. The role also involves processing payments, handling guest inquiries, explaining menu items and pairing suggestions, and supporting special events such as tastings, tours, and private functions. Team members collaborate closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure a welcoming, safe, and engaging guest experience in a busy, craft-focused environment.
