Canoe at OLIVER & BONACINI invites energetic server assistants to join our front-of-house team in Toronto. Under the direction of the Front of House Management Team, you’ll support servers, maintain mise en place, and ensure guest experience meets our high standards.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in a fast-paced restaurant
• Weekend availability, evenings, and holidays
• Valid Smart Serve Certification required
• High attention to detail
• Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to take direction and prioritize
• Strong knowledge of food and beverages
• This is a full-time position
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about food, beverages, wine and services
• Assist with food running to ensure correct guest delivery
• Communicate with Servers and Hosts to maximize seating
• Maintain floor cleanliness and proper mise en place
• Follow all food safety standards and systems
• Empty garbage, change linen bags and dispose of garbage and recycling
• Relay guest comments to servers to enhance the experience
• Other duties as assigned

Job Description

Under the direction of the Front of House Management Team, Server Assistants provide support to Servers by inspecting all tables for the proper mise en place, cleanliness and completeness. They practice a high level of floor awareness and have exceptional knowledge of all food and beverage items.

The day to day:

• Answer questions about food, beverages, wine and other restaurant functions and services when necessary
• Assist with food running, ensuring that plates arrive to the proper guest (no auctioning off)
• Communicate with Servers and Hosts to maximize seating
• Practice a high level of floor awareness and clear/clean as required
• Follow all food safety standards and systems
• Empty garbage, change linen bags and dispose of garbage and recycling
• Communicate to all Servers any comments or information provided by guests to ensure a positive, memorable experience
• Other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

• 1 year previous experience in a fast paced restaurant environment
• Weekend availability/ evening/ Holiday
• Valid Smart Serve Certification, required.

• Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to take direction and prioritize
• High level of product knowledge
• Ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum
