Job description

SaskEnergy Networks & Infrastructure department is seeking a resource to join their Server Infrastructure Operations team. The successful candidate will work within the existing team to help with the implementation and administration of the various components of the VMware vSphere, Microsoft Server and Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure. The resource will follow team standards based on current industry and security best practices for the configuration and implementations of server infrastructure.

SaskEnergy is seeking a resource to implement and administer our on-premises server infrastructure and Cloud services utilizing industry and security best practices. The resource MUST have a minimum 5 years of recent and practical server administration experience which incorporate cloud services.

Ideally the resource will have:

1. Proven competency in Microsoft on-premises server implementation, and administration

2. Proven competency in Microsoft Azure administration

3. Proven competency in VMware vSphere administration

4. Proven competency with server, storage, and cloud storage security best practices

5. Proven competency with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) administration

6. Experience in influencing and establishing collaboration direction within an organization

7. Understanding of enterprise level on-premises server and cloud architecture

8. Understanding of integrations of an on-premises environment and the cloud

9. North American job experience

Typical activities in this role include:

1. Implementation, documentation, administration and troubleshooting of the enterprise server environment.

2. Helps prepare plans for development and installation of server and storage according to present and future requirements.

3. Provide expert technical design, implementation, and administration of the Microsoft on-premises Server environment and Azure cloud environment.

4. Provides expert technical support with the VMware environment including but not limited to VMware vSphere and VMware Horizon

5. Provide expert technical support, implementation on Microsoft Server environment.

6. Monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting and resolution of system problems to ensure system availability.

7. Manage and maintain server disaster recovery including planning, implementation, maintenance, and testing.

8. Manage and maintain the configuration, administration, upgrade, and maintenance of operational technology servers and related infrastructure.

9. Interacts with our user base (corporate and field employees) on an as needed basis regarding technology issues and escalations.

10. Works with server patch management processes and procedures to facilitate deployment.

11. Maintains systems integrity through change control and problem management procedures and communication with internal customers.

12. Follows Standard Operating Procedures when carrying out position responsibilities.

13. Attends and participates in team meetings.

14. Participate in the after hours on call rotation.

15. Act as a representative of the Networks & Infrastructure department

The key knowledge areas and skill set required are as outlined in Appendix C – Supplementary Specifications. North American job experience is considered an asset for this proposal. Proponents are encouraged to provide specific and qualitative verbiage of other areas where their expertise can add value to our teams and make our projects as successful as possible.

CONTRACT DURATION

The Contract(s) will be effective for an initial term commencing on the date of award and ending on March 31, 2025. The Contract(s) will automatically renew for successive one (1) year terms, a maximum of four (4) times, unless the Contract is terminated in accordance with its provisions or by either party, at least ten (10) business days prior to the expiry of the then current term, providing the other party with written notice of its intent to terminate the Contract upon the conclusion of the then current term. Renewal terms will be subject to the same terms and conditions, including rates, used during the initial term unless otherwise agreed to by the parties. If a notice of termination is provided, the provision of any goods or services under the Contract must be approved in advance by the Administrator and will be paid for at the rates then in force.

Mandatory Requirements (Pass/Fail):

• Resource must have a minimum 5 years of recent and practical server administration experience.

• Resource must have a valid class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License (or equivalent)

• Resource must be willing to travel outside of Regina, including occasional overnight stays.

At least two (2) recent business references for each candidate

Interview and Reference Checks

An award is conditional upon Vendor obtaining, at its cost, a current (within 6 months) Criminal Reference Checks (“CRCs”) for each proposed resource, satisfactory to SaskEnergy. CRCs shall be retained by the Vendor and are subject to inspection by SaskEnergy. SaskEnergy Photo Identification and access badges are required for any resources requiring independent or unaccompanied access to SaskEnergy sites in order to provide the Services contemplated in this bid.
