Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals and groups; coordinate with City of Victoria and outreach teams and partner agencies.

Job description

The Victoria Police Department is seeking a Sergeant to fill a temporary position leading the Foot Patrol and Bylaw Team in support of the City of Victoria's Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan. The purpose and mandate of the team is to enhance coordinated enforcement and service-linked responses to disorder, encampments, and property-related concerns. The Foot Patrol and Bylaw Support Team also serves as a liaison between partner agencies, facilitating effective communication, coordination, and joint action on complex community safety issues.

Job Description
  • Schedule - Tuesday - Friday:
    • Week 1 - 0700-1700
    • Week 2 - 0800-1800
    • Week 3 - 1000-2000
  • Work alongside City of Victoria to seek compliance and enforce, City bylaws, various Provincial statutes, Federal Statues and the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners
  • Effectively communicate with individuals and groups, work collaboratively with City of Victoria, CSD’s outreach teams and other community / partner agencies
