SEO Specialist (1 year temporary position)

Please Note: This is a 1-year temporary position with the potential for extension.

"The Marketing team is poised for unprecedented growth and opportunity. We're in a very unique position where we've experienced tremendous success but are far from exhausting the whitespace around us. There is a unique opportunity to join a rising organization and make a significant and immediate impact." Mark Lynch - Senior Director, Demand Generation

As an SEO Specialist, you’ll play a hands-on role in executing the research and implementation tasks that support a large-scale website initiative at Absorb. This one-year contract position is ideal for someone with strong foundational SEO knowledge who enjoys rolling up their sleeves — from conducting keyword research and writing briefs to optimizing metadata and updating content directly in CMS tools.

You’ll work closely with our in-house SEO Content Specialist and broader content marketing team to help improve organic visibility and support a more streamlined, search-intent-driven experience across our website. While your focus will be execution, you’ll also contribute insights that help shape our SEO direction — especially as search evolves through AI, semantic search, and structured data. This is a remote role that offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in a highly collaborative environment.

Are you interested in hearing more about Absorb from a current employee? Listen here:

  • Conduct keyword research, SERP analysis, and content gap assessments to support content planning and optimization.
  • Contribute to internal linking strategies and support the execution of page-to-page relationships that reinforce topic clusters and semantic site structure.
  • Monitor and deeply understand the evolution of search — including schema markup, semantic SEO, AI-powered experiences like SGE, and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) — and apply these insights directly to SEO implementation and site optimization.
  • Develop SEO briefs and content outlines to guide writers
  • Write or edit SEO-driven web copy as needed — including page titles, meta descriptions, on-page copy, and CTAs.
  • Support CMS updates directly (e.g. metadata, alt tags, internal links)
  • Monitor keyword performance, organic traffic, and competitor trends using tools like Semrush, Google Search Console, Conductor, and GA4.
  • Identify and escalate technical SEO issues (e.g. crawlability, page speed, canonicalization, redirects) and collaborate with web and dev teams to resolve them.
  • Help maintain documentation for SEO implementation best practices, QA processes, and CMS guidelines.
  • Ensure consistent execution of SEO tactics across all web assets, including those produced by external partners.
  • Collaborate closely with the SEO Content Specialist, content team, and external partners to ensure alignment and consistency across all SEO activities.

What you’ll bring:

  • A degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field is preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in an SEO-focused role, preferably in a B2B or corporate marketing environment
  • Deep understanding of modern SEO practices, including semantic SEO, structured data/schema markup, internal linking, and search intent modeling
  • Proven ability to execute SEO tasks end-to-end — including keyword research, brief creation, metadata optimization, and CMS updates
  • Foundational technical SEO knowledge (e.g. site speed, crawlability, canonical tags, redirects) and the ability to identify and flag issues for resolution
  • Familiarity with tools such as Semrush, Google Search Console, GA4, and content planning or task management tools (e.g. ClickUp)
  • Comfortable working in CMS platforms with attention to metadata, alt tags, formatting, and internal linking
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write or refine SEO-friendly content and page copy as needed
  • Experience working collaboratively across teams (content, dev, design, product marketing, demand generation, external freelancers) to implement SEO strategies
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail — able to translate data into actionable insights and updates
  • Experience in the e-learning or EdTech space is an asset, but not required
