Job summary

Formations Inc. in Canada is seeking a Senior Woodworking CNC Operator to lead the setup, operation, and optimization of our multi-axis CNC routers in the production department.

You will troubleshoot cutting issues, maximize material yield, minimize cycle times, and mentor entry-level operators while maintaining the highest quality standards for our wood products. This full‑time, in‑person role requires independent problem-solving, strict adherence to safety procedures, and a proactive approach

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience operating CNC routers in a commercial woodworking or cabinetry environment.
• Understanding of tool paths and feed rates.
• Mastery of calipers and indicators to maintain tolerances within strict fractions of a millimeter.

Responsibilities

• CNC Setup & Operation: Set up and operate 3-axis and multi-axis CNC routers to complete job files.
• Tooling & Inventory Management: Manage the tooling inventory, select appropriate bits for the material, and maintain a rigorous tool‑sharpening schedule.
• Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex machine errors, finish defects (like tear-out or burning), and mechanical issues independently.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Train, mentor, and supervise junior operators, ensuring safety compliance and standard operating procedures are followed.
• Preventative Maintenance: Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines.
