Job summary

All Equip Repair in St. Marys, Ontario is seeking an Experienced Welder/Fitter to join a diverse shop. You will work in production and custom fabrication, reading drawings, welding aluminum and steel, and solving fit‑up challenges on prototypes and repeat parts.

You will move between production welding, custom fabrication, and hands‑on problem‑solving with engineering teams. This role requires 5+ years of experience, MIG welding, and a commitment to quality in a busy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• MUST HAVE 5+ years of welding and fitting experience in fabrication, trailer, or heavy‑equipment environments.
• Proficiency in aluminum and steel welding — MIG required, TIG a strong asset.
• Strong fitting skills: read drawings, lay out parts, check tolerances, and assemble accurately.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches for both production builds and custom projects.
• Fit, assemble, and weld aluminum and steel components with precision — alignments, tolerances, and structural integrity.
• Perform production welding on repeat‑run trailer components with consistent quality and efficiency.
• Support custom fabrication and prototyping by building one‑off parts and test assemblies.
• Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to resolve fit‑up challenges and refine prototype designs.
• Select welding processes (MIG/TIG) and parameters based on material and project requirements.
• Use jigs, fixtures, and measuring tools to ensure accurate fit‑up and repeatability.
• Operate fabrication equipment including saws, torches, grinders, hoists, and welding machines.
• Inspect welds and assemblies against internal standards and customer specs.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area with proper PPE and safety procedures.
