Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a senior technology leader to design, deliver and operate trading systems that support Commodities desks. You will run front-office engineering teams and partner with the Commodities Trading desk to evolve the stack for resilience and scalability.

The role emphasizes production stability, performance, and automation across electronic execution and RFQ workflows, with direct trader impact and cross-functional collaboration with operations and product owners.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of Java development experience in front-office trading tech.
• Experience leading engineering teams in high-stakes trading environments.
• Hands-on background with real-time systems and performance optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end Commodities trading technology platforms, including OMS, real-time pricing and risk views.
• Define and evolve technical strategy for low-latency, event-driven architecture.
• Drive adoption of microservices, streaming and resilient design patterns.
• Lead real-time integrations with venues, market data sources and downstream systems.
• Translate requirements into clear technical designs and delivery plans.
• Lead multi-year technology initiatives and test cases for stability.
