Job summary

Charles River Laboratories in Senneville, QC, seeks a Senior Veterinary Pathologist to apply advanced pathology knowledge to microscopic tissue evaluation, record results, and prepare complex reports. You will assist with necropsy supervision and provide leadership to staff.

The role requires D.V.M./V.M.D., 6+ years in pathology, and ACVP/ECVP board certification. Expect a full-time schedule with on-site duties and opportunities for scientific collaboration and client interaction.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in veterinary medicine (D.V.M./V.M.D.) or international equivalent.
• 6+ years of pathology experience post-D.V.M.
• Working knowledge of clinical pathology preferred.
• ACVP or ECVP board certification required to enter the level grade.
• Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration and independent thought.
• Ability to work on problems of diverse scope with data requiring evaluation of multiple factors.
• Working knowledge of related computer applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform macroscopic and microscopic tissue evaluation and interpretation of assigned studies.
• Enter pathology findings in data capturing systems.
• Write comprehensive report narratives detailing all test article effects and coordinate with study directors.
• Provide training, technical guidance and leadership to laboratory staff, and to less experienced pathologists.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge in toxicologic pathology.
• Collaborate with customers to market services and ensure satisfaction; participate in global CRL committees/projects.
• Act as core/pathologist for sponsors and consult on pathology-related issues.
• Provide advanced scientific expertise for experimental design and other study aspects.
• Possibly serve as principal investigator for contract pathology work; may review reports and assist with necropsy supervision.
