Job summary

The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join its Chief Vehicles Office. You will manage vehicle systems engineering activities for projects, ensuring safety, reliability and compliant designs in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• University degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with extensive transit systems experience.
• Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario is mandatory.
• Comprehensive knowledge of formal systems engineering methods for complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of government and safety regulations for urban transit vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of project management principles and ability to coordinate large projects.
• Excellent organizational, research, design and technical writing skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management guidance and systems engineering support for vehicle projects, including design, integration and testing.
• Prepare, verify, modify and approve technical specifications and drawings.
• Perform safety, maintainability and reliability analyses.
• Inspect and prepare engineering details for vehicle modifications.
• Prepare and approve estimates, material lists, standards and schedules for repair and fabrication.
• Coordinate and supervise testing programs, monitor data to improve reliability.
• Prepare reports on project issues, schedules and interfaces in vehicle systems engineering.
• Conduct failure analyses and provide engineered solutions.
• Investigate electro-mechanical problems and recommend solutions.
• Assist procurement with specifications for reverse-engineered components and supplier identification.
• Analyze contractor tenders and make recommendations.
• Support QA, safety certification, reliability, commissioning, training and warranty processes.
• Ensure accessibility and dignity of passengers and employees per Ontario Human Rights Code.
