Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Elasticsearch - Search Relevance team. This globally distributed group focuses on delivering a robust search experience and contributing to Lucene improvements.

You will influence technical direction, design new features, and implement enhancements. You will work across continents with engineers via email, GitHub, Zoom, and Slack, writing fast, scalable, and intuitive software.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with vector similarity on large-scale search platforms.
• Solid Java knowledge and ability to work with standard data structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to deliver industry-leading search with speed and relevance.
• Build new search features, fix bugs, and optimize algorithms and data structures.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team focused on vector search capabilities.
• Drive improvements in search relevance using questions and instincts.
• Engage with open-source communities and manage code reviews and PRs.
• Write idiomatic modern Java (Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java).
