Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Mississauga, Ontario, seeks a Senior Traction Power Engineering Manager for Global Rail Systems. You will lead major technical programs, drive system designs from feasibility to construction, and mentor a regional TP team. Strong experience in rail electrification and project management is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • PE licence or ability to acquire within 6 months.
  • 10+ years in rail electrification with Canada-based project experience.
  • 5+ years in multidisciplinary project experience.
  • Experience with third rail and overhead catenary systems.
  • Knowledge of DC/AC traction power systems and RAMS.

Job Overview

Senior Traction Power Engineering Manager – Global Rail Systems, Mississauga, Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage major technical programs including control of scope, schedule and budget
  • Produce system designs from feasibility through Issue for Construction and support testing and commissioning
  • Organize, manage, and inspire staff to achieve program objectives
  • Manage owner and stakeholder interests
  • Present ideas, concepts and details to owners, contractors, and others
  • Coordinate and build partnerships internally with HATCH and externally with partners to achieve goals
  • Review work of others and provide detailed and constructive commentary in a professional setting
  • Work with others to promote HATCH and develop opportunities for new work
  • Lead regional TP team to develop training, competency management schemes, quality documents and process, and technology improvements/innovations
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Professional Engineering Licence or ability to acquire one within 6 months
  • Ten (10) years of experience in the rail electrification industry with at least three (3) of those working for manufacturers, contractors, or owners on at least one project based in Canada
  • Five (5) or more years of multidisciplinary project experience such as planning, project management, or large project systems integration
  • Experience with both third rail and overhead catenary systems
  • Detailed knowledge of design and implementation of DC systems (600/750/1000/1500V), AC systems (12.5/25kV), grounding/bonding and EMI/EMC systems including modeling, simulations, preliminary and detailed design, RAMS, programming, field testing, and V&V
  • Preferred experience with multi-vendor equipment
Desired Skills
  • CAD tools (AutoCAD/MicroStation), BIM tools (Civil 3D, REVIT)
  • Analysis and modeling tools for traction power load flow, arc flash, and grounding/bonding
  • Experience in field testing of Traction Power Systems
  • Knowledge of current Cyber Security practices
  • Project management experience
Compensation

Base salary range: $150,000 - $200,000. Additional rewards may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs.
