Sony Pictures Imageworks, located in Vancouver area, seeks a Senior Texture Artist to lead texture creation for our projects. The role requires 5-6+ years production experience, mentoring junior artists, and delivering high-quality textures aligned with art direction.

You will collaborate with modeling and lighting teams, optimize textures, and participate in reviews to ensure a consistent look across assets. A demo reel showcasing advanced texturing techniques is required.

Qualifications

• 5-6+ years production experience
• Portfolio demonstrating high artistic and technical texture skills
• Strong shading, lighting, and rendering knowledge
• Proficiency in Mari, Substance Painter, Photoshop, Maya, Mudbox, ZBrush, and Substance Designer
• Linux/UNIX with shell scripting; Python a plus
• Advanced Katana, Lookdev, UV mapping; comfortable with Nuke
• Excellent problem-solving, organization, and collaboration
• Experience mentoring junior artists

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with asset teams to define texture approaches
• Create textures for complex assets following art direction
• Mentor juniors and conduct QA checks
• Ensure reference and colorspace accuracy
• Deliver work on schedule and participate in reviews
• Optimize paint setups and share best practices
• Address feedback to elevate asset look
• Maintain project organization among artists
