About the Role

Our client, a dynamic telecommunications infrastructure provider, is seeking a skilled Senior Telecommunications Technician to join their team in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and associated hardware. You will be instrumental in ensuring network reliability and performance for our clients. Key Responsibilities

• Install, test, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including fiber optic cables, network switches, routers, and associated hardware.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshoot network issues, identifying and resolving faults promptly.
• Conduct site surveys and plan installation routes for new cabling infrastructure.
• Ensure all installations and maintenance work comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Manage project timelines and resources for assigned installation and maintenance tasks.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment inventory, and network configurations.
• Respond to emergency service calls and resolve critical network issues efficiently.
• Collaborate with clients and project managers to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest telecommunications technologies and best practices.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance.
• Proven experience with fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing.
• Strong knowledge of copper cabling, structured cabling systems, and networking principles.
• Familiarity with telecommunications hardware, including routers, switches, and PABX systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A valid driver's license is essential.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CFOT, RCDD) are highly advantageous.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in the Kimberley region.
• Willingness to travel within the Northern Cape province as required.
