Job summary

LGM is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to join its North America team. The successful candidate will produce maintenance and operation manuals and act as the resource for the Techpub team in Thunder Bay, coordinating with engineering and project staff.

The role requires an engineering degree, 10+ years in technical publication, S1000D knowledge, and aerospace/rail experience, plus project management skills and strong customer focus.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, electronic, mechatronic or industrial fields.
• At least 10 years of experience in Technical Publication.
• Knowledge of S1000D standards.
• Experience in Aerospace rail industry.
• Experience in project management.
• Strong customer orientation and ability to tailor solutions.

Responsibilities

• Produce various types of technical publications (maintenance manuals, operation manuals, etc.).
• Participate in validation of technical writings content.
• Coordinate information exchange between teams and maintain a consistent look and feel.
• Coordinate activities within the Techpub team and with the client.
• Attend technical meetings with project members.
• Mentor junior technical writers.
• Develop trusted client relationships while promoting LGM's expertise.
• Contribute to improving practices and tools.

Context

In order to strengthen the rapid development of LGM both in Toronto and Montreal we are looking for a Senior Technical Writer.

Your responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the TECHPUB/ILS Group Manager, your mission will be to produce different types of manuals (maintenance, operation, installation…) and be the resource person for the Techpub team in Thunderbay.

You will be based in our client facility in Thunderbay.

Your main tasks include:

• Producing various types of technical publication (Maintenance manual, Operation Manuals,…)
• Participate in the validation process of technical writings content;
• Be responsible of the information exchange between the teams, maintaining a common look and feel to all documentation produced;
• Coordination
• Participate in technical meetings with the members of the project;
• Mentoring junior technical writers;
• Building a relationship of trust and partnership with the client while promoting LGM's expertise;
• Contributing to the improvement of practices and tools.

Your profile:

• Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, electronic or mechatronic, industrial engineering);
• Minimum 10 years experience in Technical Publication
• Knowledge of S1000D
• Experience in Aerospace sector of railway
• Previous experience in project management.
• Customer orientation: listening, understanding, clarifying, prescribing appropriate solutions and expertise.
