Job summary

LGM North America, part of the LGM Group, is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to lead the creation of maintenance, operation and installation manuals and to serve as the Techpub team resource for the Thunder Bay project.

Based at the client facility in Thunder Bay, you will drive content production, validate writings, coordinate cross-team communications, mentor junior writers, and foster a trusted client relationship while promoting LGM’s expertise.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, electronic or mechatronic, or industrial engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Technical Publication.
• Knowledge of S1000D.
• FrameMaker and Arbortext experience.
• Experience in Aerospace and railway sectors.
• Experience in project management.
• Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills.
• Customer-oriented; able to listen, understand and propose solutions.

Responsibilities

• Produce maintenance, operation, installation and other manuals.
• Validate technical writing content throughout projects.
• Maintain a consistent look/feel across all documentation.
• Coordinate information exchange between teams.
• Participate in technical meetings with project members.

Overview:

Part of the LGM Group, LGM North America aims to provide its client specialized engineering services in the following fields: Technical Publication, RAMS, Maintenance engineering & Logistic Support, and Industrial Performance.

We are involved on many major public transportation projects that will have great impacts on Canadian mobility. From railway to aerospace, naval, or energy, we always provide expertise to our clients with the same passion and high-quality standards.

Context

In order to strengthen the rapid development of LGM both in Toronto and Montreal we are looking for a Senior Technical Writer.

Your responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the TECHPUB/ILS Group Manager, your mission will be to produce different types of manuals (maintenance, operation, installation…) and be the resource person for the Techpub team in Thunderbay.

You will be based in our client facility in Thunderbay.

Your main tasks include:

• Producing various types of technical publication (Maintenance manual, Operation Manuals,…)


• Participate in the validation process of technical writings content;


• Be responsible of the information exchange between the teams, maintaining a common look and feel to all documentation produced;


• Coordination


• Participate in technical meetings with the members of the project;


• Mentoring junior technical writers;


• Building a relationship of trust and partnership with the client while promoting LGM’s expertise;


• Contributing to the improvement of practices and tools.

Your profile:

• Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, electronic or mechatronic, industrial engineering);


• Minimum 10 years experience in Technical Publication


• Knowledge of S1000D


• Frame Maker, Arbortext


• Experience in Aerospace sector of railway


• Previous experience in project management.
