Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH is seeking a Senior Technical Expert in Airworthiness with 15+ years of aerospace engineering experience to lead certification and regulatory activities. You will coordinate complex airworthiness issues, act as a subject matter expert, and mentor other engineers while collaborating with regulators and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering; PhD in a related field is considered an asset.
• 15+ years of experience in aerospace engineering.
• Proven experience supporting multiple aerospace development programs from concept through certification and/or entry into service.
• Recognized as a subject matter expert with the ability to influence technical decisions and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate technical resolution for complex airworthiness issues with regulators (foreign authority validation).
• Lead and coordinate resolution to CAW, Delegation and Certification related issues with Regulators (e.g., Table of Concordance, DAPM, DAO, Compliance).
• Educate other specialists within or beyond the group on technical decision making and influence.
• Develop and guide DR&O/ARD derivative work and peer reviews; support audits and safety processes.

Senior Technical Expert, Airworthiness

Technical Leadership

• Lead and coordinate technical resolution for complex issues related to foreign authority validation activities
• Lead and coordinate resolution to CAW, Delegation and Certification related issues with Regulators (ie. Table of Concordance, DAPM, DAO, Compliance etc.)
• Key SME participant in Knowledge Domain and Technical Risk Oversight activities
• Influence industry standards - Active panel member/chair on Airworthiness related committees
• Educate other specialists within the group and beyond on technical decision making and influence
• Provide recommendations for promotions from ES to SES
• Propose implementation/certification guidance for technical innovations based on knowledge of industry/regulatory emerging regulations or lack thereof
• Recommend new cost-effective engineering solutions through Knowledge Domains and Programs
• Participate in internal DAO and Authority PVI audits and provide technical guidance for resolution of findings
• Provide guidance and lead initiatives related to the rulemaking process
• Develop network of contact throughout Industry
• Lead and coordinate the A/C level requirement and design solution development through the DR&O, ARD, IDD, RMAS etc development and production -Includes coordinating with other functions to ensure completeness and cohesiveness -Lead and Coordinate technically the V&V efforts at A/C level
• Support derivative MR&O development (review and acceptance)
• Prepare DR&O/ARD derivative and peer work
• Lead and coordinate the PR investigation and resolution process for A/C level issues Customer Facing – problem resolution in support of Delivery and STC’s & support to customer advisory councils
• Participate in Commodity Strategy reviews with Sourcing
• Identify opportunities with Sourcing for program cost savings

Technical Competency

• Support problem solving in the Knowledge Domain across product lines
• Collect/Validate Lessons Learned in own Domain in support of Knowledge Owner
• Research technical developments in the industry to remain aware of emerging regulations
• Perform RoM business cases and statements of work for technical studies and aircraft studies having multi-disciplinary inputsli>
• Provide guidance and contribute the digital evolution for certification related tools and processes
• Provide guidance to Applicant for Issue Papers (IP), Certification Memos (CM), Certification Review Item (CRI), Certification Action Item (CAI)
• Support technical specialist development of Means of Compliance (MoC) for new or novel regulatory interpretations
• Technical guidance to Strat Tech, Defense, Programs, Contracts, Customer Support and CARB
• Technical process oversight and adherence to TRL, Maturity & Exit Gate Criteria
• Maintain competitive landscape of technologies and performance of non-Bombardier models
• Lead Strat Tech team thinking regarding certification, safety and produceability of projects
• Share Industry and Regulatory Development with KD`s
• Participate in LOI peer review activities
• Support programs in Major Manufacturing issues – Major RNC’s, Major Non-Disclosure
• Technical guidance to Strat Tech, Defense, Programs, Contracts, Customer Support and CARB
• Works with the Safety team to execute A/C Level Safety, Reliability and Security processes
