Job summary

EY Canada in Halifax is seeking a Senior in Transaction Tax to work on deals and advise on tax implications of acquisitions and divestitures. You’ll be involved in due diligence, structuring, and execution, developing both technical depth and commercial awareness in a fast-moving environment.

You’ll collaborate across teams, identify tax risks and opportunities, and translate findings into practical guidance for clients while benefiting from EY’s Total Rewards and career development programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study.
• Professional credential or advanced degree such as CPA, MTax, CPA In-depth Tax, LLB or LLM.
• Relevant work experience in tax, preferably related to transactions.
• Exposure to mergers and acquisitions or international tax is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support and contribute to tax due diligence and transaction advisory engagements across buy-side and sell-side transactions.
• Analyze acquisitions, divestitures, and corporate transactions to assess tax implications and structuring considerations.
• Identify tax risks, exposures, and planning opportunities, and translate findings into clear insights.
• Prepare tax research, analyses, and draft memoranda to support transaction recommendations.
• Coordinate engagement activities, manage workstreams and track deliverables.
• Assist in developing tax-efficient structuring and planning strategies aligned with client objectives.
• Collaborate across teams and build strong working relationships with clients.
