Job summary

EY in Canada seeks a Senior Manager in Strategic Transaction Advisory and Accounting & Reporting (STAAR) to lead engagements across the transaction lifecycle. Work with finance leaders in deals, provide accounting guidance, and drive convergence across IFRS, Canadian and US GAAP regimes.

You will supervise teams, deliver tailored client solutions, and help shape post‑closing processes, with opportunities for cross-border collaboration within a global firm.

Qualifications

• A degree in accounting or a major in a related discipline, at least 8 years of relevant experience, and a Canadian CPA designation or an equivalent credential.
• Experience in audit or in industry related to financial statement close processes or the application of accounting standards.
• A commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• A strong team-oriented mindset and leadership qualities.
• The ability to speak, read, and write in both French and English.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and participate in a variety of engagements (research on accounting standards, assess financial and governance processes, support in transitioning to a new accounting framework).
• Supervise engagement teams, including delegating tasks and reviewing work performed.
• Prepare deliverables tailored to client needs.
• Lead by example with performance evaluations and coaching.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with client leadership and multidisciplinary teams.
• Understand clients’ industry sectors, key performance drivers, and relevant developments.
• Stay informed about economic developments and their potential impacts on clients.
• Foster people development and encourage ownership with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
• Use technology to learn, share knowledge, and enhance service delivery.
• Prepare service proposals and support business development with relationships.
