Job summary

Cascades in Scarborough, Ontario is seeking a Truck Mechanic to keep on-floor operations flowing. You will perform daily maintenance, repair road and plant equipment, and ensure service tickets are available for transportation and production staff.

The role requires Red Seal certification (310J or 310T), a valid G license, and at least two years of experience. You’ll work an afternoon, full-time shift with comprehensive benefits and eligibility for profit sharing.

Qualifications

• Must hold Red Seal 310J or 310T.
• Valid G Class driver's license.
• Minimum 2 years of truck mechanic experience.
• Documentation of valid certification in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance checks and servicing on road and plant equipment.
• Coordinate with leads to schedule service and repair work.
• Ensure repair tickets are available for staff and shipments.
• Adhere to safety OHS codes and regulatory requirements (MTO, MOL, MOE).
• Maintain inventory control and assist with parts stocking.
• Conduct safety inspections and document findings.

What you'll do

As a Truck Mechanic, you'll be at the heart of operations - right on the floor where materials take shape. Your day-to-day:

• Organization and housekeeping daily as outlined by the company
• Clear, respectful communication and interpersonal skills
• Documentation of valid certification in good standing as required
• Ensure repair requisition tickets are readily available for transportation and production staff
• Ensure all service and maintenance practices meet the regulatory requirements for the MTO, MOL, and the MOE
• Work with Lead Hands to coordinate and control the daily scheduling of service and repair of all road and plant equipment
• Receive and sign for stock inventory from suppliers and insure properly allocated by BIN locations as outlined by Lead hand.
• Assist in providing control over parts inventory ensuring that inventory levels are kept within the predetermined minimum / maximum
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and servicing
• Facilitate safety inspections
• Repair equipment and replace parts where appropriate
• Assess equipment to see if they require to be sent out for repair
• Recognize and report faults or malfunctions on all company equipment, not limited to loaders, skid steer, forklifts and hydraulic systems
• Must adhere to safety OHS codes and conduct

Your strengths as a Truck Mechanic

• Red Seal 310J or 310T
• Basic Set of hand tools used for truck repair required
• Valid G Class license or greater
• Document of valid certification in good standing required
• 2 years' experience

Skills:

• Experience using pneumatic tools
• Basic electric systems diagnostics and repairs and reading electrical schematics
• Air brakes and air brake systems
• Tailgate assembly skills, assembly, diagnostic and repairs
• Basic use of torches and welding when required is an asset
• Preventative maintenance including electrical, interior, air brake, tire, and body maintenance as per Cascades preventative maintenance sheet.
