Job summary

Graphic Transportation Services Inc. in Brampton, ON is seeking a licensed Transport Truck Trailer Mechanic (310T) for the morning shift, with an hourly rate of $42 to $50 plus a tool allowance. Location: 155 Delta Park Blvd., Brampton. Position status: permanent full-time, 40 hrs/week.

Qualifications

• Three to five years’ trade experience with 310T certification or Red Seal Endorsement.
• Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics.
• Comfortable coaching and mentoring apprentices within a registered apprentice program.
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a busy environment.
• Must possess tools appropriate for fleet maintenance; CSA approved safety boots; G class license.
• AZ license and welding experience preferred.
• Technology: PC literacy, MS Office, and TMS familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems.
• Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions.
• Road test motor vehicles and review work orders.
• Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements.
• Coach and instruct apprentices.
• Complete reports to record problems and work performed.
• Provide customer service and support fleet operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Status:1 Existing Permanent Full-Time Vacancy (40hrs per week)

Shifts Available:Morning shift

Hourly rate: $42 to $50/hour based on experience +Tool allowance,$500/year.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities

• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of commercial transport truck systems
• Confirm findings with supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace unit
• Discuss work with supervisor
• Inspect and test mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
• Inspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions
• Inspect motor in operation
• Review work orders
• Road test motor vehicles
• Test automotive systems and components
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of truck-trailer systems
• Repair or replace mechanical units or components
• Test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications
• Estimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Perform scheduled maintenance service
• Test and adjust units to specifications
• Advise customers on work performed and future repair requirements
• Complete reports to record problems and work performed
• Coach and instruct apprentices
• Provide customer service
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

• Three (3) to Five (5) years’ trade experience with 310T certification or Red Seal Endorsement
• Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematics and diagnostics
• Comfortable coaching and/or mentoring apprentices within a registered apprentice program
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a busy environment
• Attention to Detail
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Must possess tools appropriate for fleet maintenance
• Must have CSA approved steel-toed safety boots
• G class is required
• AZ licence and welding experience preferred
• Technology:Must be PC Literate, with mid-level proficiency in Microsoft Office and specific job-related software applications. Practical experience with Transportation Management System (TMS) is an asset.
