Senior Search Consultant | Elevated People Solutions

Our client, a chartered professional accounting firm providing comprehensive personal and business accounting services tailored to a wide range of client needs, is currently looking for a Senior Tax Manager to join their team. This role will work closely with the firm's partners to deliver exceptional service and tailored solutions to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a blended workload that includes hands-on accounting and oversight of file preparation.
  • Lead and compile year-end corporate files, including financial statements and tax returns, ensuring compliance with ASPE and tax regulations.
  • Prepare and review compilation and review engagement files across various industries, meeting professional and disclosure standards.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, or annual accounting tasks such as reconciliations, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, reviewing their work on bookkeeping, financial statements, and tax filings to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Act as the main liaison for clients, collecting financial data and responding to routine accounting and compliance queries.
  • Prepare and review T1, T2, and GST/HST returns, ensuring compliance with Canadian tax legislation.
  • Assist in the development of tax strategies and planning for clients by staying informed on regulatory changes and advising on risk mitigation.
  • Ensure all work aligns with internal quality control processes and professional standards.
  • Manage ad hoc accounting projects, including special financial analyses and client-requested reviews.
  • Liaise with legal professionals on complex client matters as required.

Key Requirements:

  • CPA designation is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a Canadian public accounting firm.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian ASPE, tax legislation, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, CaseWare, Tax Cycle, QuickBooks Online, Sage and other various accounting software.
  • Experience or familiarity with insurance-related accounting is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and client service.
