Job summary

ness is seeking a Senior Synapse Engineer (Remote) to build, optimize, and maintain the Azure Synapse environment, replacing Alteryx workflows. You will implement pipelines, SQL transformations, orchestration, and security, collaborating with the onsite Data Modeler and Conversion Analyst to ensure production-quality migrated workloads.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in data engineering and 3+ years in Azure Synapse.
• Strong T-SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines, and workload optimization.
• Experience migrating Alteryx, SSIS, Databricks, or equivalent ETL systems.
• Knowledge of Delta Lake, Parquet, partitioning, and schema evolution.
• CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps or Git, environment promotion.

Responsibilities

• Build Synapse pipelines, SQL transformations, datasets and linked services.
• Tune performance of dedicated SQL pools (partitioning, indexing, caching).
• Implement CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub.
• Configure and manage data security, RLS, access roles, and auditing.
• Monitor Synapse environments, performance, costs, and autoscaling.
• Troubleshoot issues across ingestion, transformation, orchestration phases.
• Provide architectural guidance and platform best practices.
