Job summary

CANEIL is expanding its in-house electrical engineering team to support a growing portfolio across Canada and the United States, focusing on substation physical design. This senior role leads design packages and provides technical guidance for complex projects, with a strong emphasis on constructible deliverables.

The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of experience, PE designation preferred, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in substation physical engineering and detailed design.
• Experience supporting utility, transmission, industrial, renewable energy, or similarly complex projects.
• Experience developing and reviewing physical design packages for medium- and high-voltage substations.
• Strong understanding of substation equipment arrangements, clearances, grounding, and bus configurations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; AutoCAD Electrical strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam for markup and coordination.
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, CSA, and related standards; PE designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, review, and delivery of physical design packages for substations.
• Prepare general arrangements, layouts, elevations, and equipment details.
• Coordinate design requirements with clients, utilities, and other disciplines.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers in substation physical design and drafting.
• Perform technical reviews, QA/QC, and implement design changes from markups.
