Job summary

PTW Energy Services in Calgary is seeking a experienced Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. You will prepare accurate estimates and quantity take-offs from client designs, review bid documents, and coordinate with project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure competitive bids and successful proposals.

Responsibilities include developing labour-hour estimates for detailing, fabrication, and erection, evaluating bids, and producing bid summaries.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of structural steel estimating experience in Canada.
• Estimation from drawings and bid documents with Canadian standards CSA S16, CSA G40.21, CISC, NBCC.
• Knowledge of material pricing, fabrication costs, erection methods, and subcontractor pricing.
• Experience with ERP/MRP integrated estimating and project management.
• Proven ability to develop labour-hour estimates for detailing, fabrication, painting, and erection.
• Proficient in bid summaries, cost analyses, and value-engineering proposals.

Responsibilities

• Prepare structural steel estimates and quantity take-offs.
• Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to capture requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Develop labour-hour estimates for detailing, fabrication, painting, galvanizing, shipping, and erection.
• Solicit quotations and evaluate bids from multiple vendors.
• Prepare bid summaries, cost analyses, and management review packages.
• Amend estimates with project changes and client coordination.
• Attend client meetings as required.
• Analyze historical costs and market trends to improve accuracy.
• Ensure all estimating documentation complies with guidelines and safety regulations.
